- Circular FOV field. This is a replacement to the rectangular FOV field, and looks *much* better. Thanks to James for the suggestion on this one.
- 'Look' command. Can now look around the game world.
- Ammo and Gold as items types. Though Ammo is not much use currently since ranged combat hasn't been implemented yet.
- Better monster AI. Some monsters will run away from the hero, other monsters will try and heal themselves if injured. Its still a basic AI implementation, but better than the previous release.
- Examine spells and items, hero status and command list. These have all been implemented and improved, and the interface is looking much nicer now!
- Lots of testing, a few bugs have been found and squashed!

Love what you're doing here! What's next?
ReplyDeleteThanks! Next release will have ranged combat, ranged spells, animations and radius-effect spells. Also monster AI will be able to cast magic, attack with ranged weapons and ranged spells. I'm not far from implementing all of that. Then, its about refactoring and streamlining my existing code before I start to add new features.
DeleteAny suggestions let me know! I'm wanting to implement some 'theiving' elements to the game, so things like traps, pick locking and a rogue class. Also I want to implement a 'perk' system, so everytime you level up you can choose an extra perk, something to make your character a bit more unique.
I also like the idea of dual-wielding weapons if you aren't using a shield or a two handed weapon.
Lots of ideas in the pipe line!
I especially like to hear of a Perk system coming, doubly so it being per level and not every few---hoping for a nicely gigantic and eclectic mix to go alongside however many classes the game winds up with.
ReplyDeleteAwesome Andrew!
ReplyDeleteTraps and lock picking are a must!
Looking forward to ranged weapons and the beefed up monster AI as well!
Oh, and the perks every level... sweet!
